Where did my transmission fluid go?
2006 roadglide. Had my bike out last weekend. Noticed the transmission was a little clunkier than usual. Slightly harder to find neutral. I run Redline shockproof in it, and it usually shifts like a dream.
Checked the trans fluid today, nothing on the dipstick. Pulled the engine oil, my nose doesn't work too good, could be my imagination, but to me the ENGINE oil smells a little like gear oil. For the last couple weeks, when I stop the bike I smelled gear oil. I did some searches and found out others had the same smell so I didn't think much of it.
I am supposed to be heading to Maine in a couple weeks. Going to do a full fluid change on it today/tomorrow, but my question is... is there any way the trans gear oil could migrate into the engine oil on a TC88?

George is probably right....if it ain't leaking....it has to be going someplace and the gasket is the only thing between the engine and tranny tank sumps.
Now...there is one more very remote possibility. Check your primary fluid. I now it sounds a bit doubtful, but the main shaft is hollow so the clutch push rod can get across from one side to the other. If your transmission vent is stopped up....maybe fluid is getting forced over there. LONG SHOT....I know, but I'd smell around in the primary before I dropped the pan....just to be sure.
