Starter ring gear chewing up inside of primary

yeah, it's a lot of work to pull the entire primary assembly off!
my starter is fine, I'm sure. Only spins the one way and Im guessing the dust was just the mica wearing.
this is gonna take me a while, but I'll get it.
I have to pull my clutch apart. There's supposed to be a retaining ring on the inside as well. THAT was what was causing the play in there. The plates can move around due to this inner retaining ring not being in there. At least that's what Dan at BDL said and he seems to know his ****.

well glad your getting it sorted out. I learned a lot about my bike fairly quickly with my initial build up. it also comes in handy to have an idea of whats going on if you break down on the road. I think I have all the kinks other then fine tuning my carb after switching to a true dual header, and just have to do a once over on all the bolts before I head to laughlin. Since we have bike week here in phoenix this week, thinkin about having it tuned on the dyno trailer at the show so it runs the way I want before our trip. keep us posted on the progress!
