I purchased the bike used, and got no letter. Will HD stand behind bikes that have been through several owners?
I doubt it but it unless your IPB is bad you have no case with them anyway. There are a lot of failures but statistically <20%. So you have a 80% chance it won't fail.
Some of the cases were made with no dowels. If you were an original owner then you got a letter form the MoCo promosing a IPB replacement free every 15,000 miles. Then another letter stating it was no longer needed. If mine ever goes bad they will be replacing my cases.
Don't bet on it. Mine went out one month after the warranty went out. I raised He!! for weeks about it. The dealer finally covered it from some kind of customer satisfaction allocation. Harley has washed their hands of them.

You can go to any dealer and let them run the vin. They can print out the service history and tell if their are any recalls not done. There was a safety recall on the netural switch they did to mine. They picked up the bike to do the recall. Didn't even want me to ride it in.

I have already talked to them. I don't know if my cases have the holes for the dowels or not. But if they don't the MoCo will replace them.
