RE: 2007 Tranny problem!
Pittguy recently posted something regarding the noise. I believe he stated, according to the moco, the noise starts at the comp and travels thru the trans. Also in a past issue of Thunderpress the writer did note that the Ultra he was testing rattled and ping when the bike got hot, especially going uphill. He stated that it sounded like a popcorn machine. Of course the moco told him it must have been just that particular bike. It's amazing that the moco would put out a final product like this.

RE: 2007 Tranny problem!
I think if anything the moco should try changing **** out to eliminate their production issues. afetr all every 07 bike is under a two year warranty UNLESS you start rippin and tearin to improve on your own. Sides any unit with issues should be addressed by moco just as an auto would be...

RE: 2007 Tranny problem!
I just watched Harley Davidson "Birth of a V-Rod" on TV and learned a grunch of info. HD uses a sound chamber and torture tests on the VRod so I assume they did on the new 96 and 6-speed. If so then there is no way they are not aware of the problems of these engine/tranny combinations!
It really pisses me off!

RE: 2007 Tranny problem!
i think come riding season the moco is going to have it's hands full. I have ridden a couple of the new combo now and although some are not as bad as others thay all seemed to have some sort of issues be it mechanical and or owner dissatifaction. in the mean time my miles keep growing and the bike keeps running. Some of what i consider something to be concerned about are becoming more noticeable and others have stayed the same.
i say ride it..never owned a harley that didn't have it's own personality.
ride it like you stole it

The noise starts at the comp. assy. from normal engine pulses and then tranfers through the chain into the transmission where the sound is amplified because the shift collar rattles also. The noise is more audible in FLH models because the chain is shorter, has less of a chance to disapate. The other models have a longer chain and thats why they do'nt make noise. Also that just from variances in manufacturing and small clearance differences some models will make more noise than others. Also driver variances too, mainly shift rpms.Recommend shifting into 6th until at least 65 to 70.Alot of people are putting in heavy gear lube and its helping on some.Recommened to try some 85-140 gear lube. It does'nt sound like they are going to have any fixes in the near future.HD hastried different trannys, comp. assy.,some got better and some got worse. Also recommended primary + oil.it has silicone in it and is pretty good stuff.

RE: 2007 Tranny problem!
Took a 207 mile round trip ride yesterday with my girlfriend on back. Tried out our new 3/4 helmets with the radio/cd/cb/interfcom system hooked up. I'll be damned if the knocking marblesin 5th gear disappeared. Imagine that. I think I found the fix. May I should let the MOCO know about this.NOT![sm=icon_cheers.gif]

RE: 2007 Tranny problem!
Has anybody rented a harley to see if they here athe same problem in that bike. I would love to get a new bike but I can't deal with these problems. Maybe the 08 models will be corrected, the heat problems tranny problems. I can't see spending 1500 dollars to make the bike run richer just so I can ride the bike during the summer. 90 degrees outside.
