MountainCat: Should be on one of the stickers on the downtubes in front of the engine. The black and silver ones.

Feels good to beat your chest, doesnt it?What proof do you have?Do you have anything showing that your bike is faulty? What does your noise sound like/Any recordings? What has your dealer given you on your complaints?Your local HD rep,any case numbers?Hasanyone ever been w/you at dealer to back your claim? If you do have a case, are you willing to keep this bike and wait maybe years for a ruling,a ruling that at best will be aless than desired result? This IDS is going to make this clatter complaint even smaller, maybe something else will cure the rest if this kit doesnt.Dont forget the aftermarket, they will always step in when money can be had,or the owner that is just had it and finds something that works on his own.HD,the dealers are out to sell bikes, whether they say or not, this complaint is well known and they want it gone as much as you. They want to see your cash again and those that are on the fence.

Was browsing through the 2008 Touring Parts manual and noticed the p/n for the '08 Thr Body is 27609-01B.
While the "B" is a new suffix for this p/n...it's interesting that they upped the flow a few tenths...if in fact that that the 27609-"B" is the same flow category (4.22 gm/sec) as the 27609-A.

Just an update as the strangeness contimues. Since the 5k service the bike keeps getting quieter and queiter. I really have no idea why but the clattering is now disapeearing below 2k RPMs. It is all very strange. Today I rode it around at 1500 RPMs and not a sound. Really weird. Can they swap a motor and tranny in two hours? Just kidding, but it is very weird. I have never seen anything this noisey go in the opposite direction.

Go ask your dealers about a service bulletin that came out concerning noise from the compensator. Mine is getting the work done on it right now (at a new dealer). I know it involves a new spring, but not sure of what else. I'm leaving town tommorrow so won't be able to test it until Saturday. Will post after I get it and ride it a 100 miles. Really guys, I'm not sh!tting you. I saw it, read it, and almost p!ssed myself. Maybe it will fix it (please, oh please!!!), maybe not but at least a dealer has finally recognized that mine is a different noise than all the others and is attempting to resolve it. This could be the reason why several others reported taking their bike to the shop and getting it back without the noise.
