Now were getting somewhere!! We just need to find who makes the 32 or 33 tooth front comp sprocket. I agree that the 30 tooth would be to low geared.
It wouldsurely lowerthe clattering in thespeed range were getting it in.
I would most definitely spenda hundred dollars or two to try. If I could just run in 5th gear
at 45- 50mph without clatter and the rpms wereup 300 fromwhere they are now I would be very happy07 owner.

The same distributer makesother ratios including a32 tooth made of steel or aluminum - check out the site.

I found the 32 tooth rear wheel belt pully from that manufacturer aluminum or steel. But couldn't find a comp sprocket in a 32 tooth.

I dont think this company has the new comp sprockets listed yet on his site but a phone call will do.Somewhere around 280 bucks will get this w/chain,i believe. He may consider a 32 tooth if enough people are interested. This if nothing elseshould at least move this clatter to another rpm range. One that would be considered lug range.I have no warranty with this issue-HD has told me so-At least the aftermarket is stepping up.

I think 32 teeth is the answer. Donny petersens article in American Iron says the 07 primary ratio is 1.35:1 and the 06 and earlier is 1.44:1.
The 07 clutch sprocket is 46 teeth. using the 32 tooth engine sprocket would bring us right back to 1.44:1. I'll bet that would put the clatter right down into an RPM range that we are not riding in anyway.
I think the sprocket has to be made for an 07 as they are splined different than 06 on down

Looking at the june issue of american iron. The 2007 comp sprocket can not be made any smaller with the ramps on it that work the comp. spring. I does look like someone could make a after market clutch-basket with a 49 tooth gear 1.44.1. It might be a little pricey but looks like you have enough room to do this. To all you guy that thinks noise is on the touring models onlyI got a 07 DYNA S-B that sound like it is going to fly all to H--L. The worst part about it I traded a 2005 sportster c with about $2000.00 of extras. Beautiful bike just could not stand to listen to the trany and primary noise it made at low RPMs. I took $7000.00 trade in on it to get rid of the noise and still owed $10.320 dollars on it. MY DYNA sound worse than it did you talking about Pissed Off but what can you do. I heard all the thats normal BULL i can stand. LOVE my harleys 2000 1200c 2001 x1 buell 2005 1200c 2007 dyna sb all sound like they were built in someones basement with a hammer and screw driver and a adjustable wrench wood lathe and a drill press. I do machine work and maintence work at my plant on 1940 model bag machines that sound better than any harley i have hade.I think i can build a better sounding motor and trans my self. 1340 evo. 5 speed trans 2005 and early 1450s 5speed trans great. go ahead and tell me LUGGING. IF I WANTED A 125cc MOTORCROSS BIKE OR A HIGH REVING INLINE 4 THATS WHAT I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT. Road to many 1340 evos and 2005 and earlyer big twins to know this is not NORMAL. 96" more power and torque you should be able to get in to higher gears quicker. Sorry to vent but this is noise drive me crazy. thank, Jeff

The big pictureabove from pitguy shows a 30 tooth comp sprocket on a 07 bike.
this would be way to small for most folks. I looks like it works with the springs and fits correctly.
I dont understand either cause our oem one is 34 teeth and even a 33 would help alot.

RCR Im not sertian it cant be done but there are 3 lobs pointing in towards the spring. I think taking 2 teeth might make the dia. to small for these to be there like i said think. the dia will change alot well not a huge diff. But if it gets to small they can not put them on a new gear and that might mean the comp spring might not work. Hey man I wish like you would not believe that some one could make it work i would buy the first one made. Would be easy to do the clutch basket but pricy but if it would fix the broblem i would buy one of them. I am no pro so dont take any of what i said to the bank just shooting in the dark. thanks, jeff
