Is the MoCo still building new bikes with the clatter noise problem. Does anyone have a March or April build that can tell us if they have a problem or not.
My FLTR has an 3/07 build date (week of 3/19 to be specific) and has the noisy 5th gear.

Towjam,
Sorry to hear that. Do you have the clattering noise in 5th and 6th and whining noise in 5th or just the whine.
The clatter is there when you are under 2300 rpm some describe it as sounding like a can of marbles.
The whine noise has been pretty much explained as being from the straight cut 5th gear and mine has gotten tolerable by using 75/140 spectro but I can't take the clatter

I get the clattering noise in 5th (no whine) and since I rarely am below 2500 in 5th, it's not a lugging issue.

No noise at all in 6th.

I know it's a tough pill to swallow on a new $20K bike.... but a $900 Baker F6F kit and a days work will fix these '07/6sp boxes........ Take it out of the chrome budget......

The title of this thread is "2007 Tranny Problem," but to my knowledge nobody is having any real tranny problems. Yes, they whine and clatter in 5th unless you keep RPM's up, so just keep 'em above about 2200 in the top two gears. After some fluid adjustments mine is tolerable in 5th, and 6th-gear clatter is gone. I can't think of a rational reason to install expensive aftermarket gears to fix a minor noise problem. My old Evo's valvetrain makes this '07's tranny sound like a sewing machine.

I spoke with Baker on the phone and they said the F6F will fix the whine but do nothing for the clatter.
I can take the noise in 5th butMy bike is the worst in 6th gear ,I can't go in 6th anywhere under about 72 mph with out a lot of noise if I could just fix that I would be a happy camper.

Hmmm.... interesting. So in effect, they're saying that the 5th gear clatter is not actually coming fromthe transmission. Or am I misunderstanding?

They are saying the F6F won't fix the clatter noise just the whine.
I still want to know what exactly the clattering is the MoCo has not even ID it as far as I know
