Default 6 speed transmission on a 2007 Ultra

5th gear on this transmission makes a different sound, almost like a whirring is the best way I can describe it. It only has a 1000 miles on it. Will this sound disappear at some point? Is there some kind of additive that can be used? Or is everything OK? thanx

No problem at all. The 5th gear is a straight cut gear and the rest are helical cut. Try red line shock proof or a heavy synthetic gear iol like mobil one wich is what I use. You will also find that is easer to find nuetral too. The fth gear is suposed to be stronger so you can down shift at like 70 while going down the freeway wich ive done many time with confidence. Just my 2 cents. you can find many threads on this topic.

Change your transmission oil to one of the following:

Bel Ray 85w140 gear saver
Mobil1 75w140
Amsoil 75w140
Redline Shockproof Heavy 75w250

That will quiet it down some. Personally, I use the redline.

www.redlineoil.com but you can get the mobil1 at autozone or the belray should be available at your dealer.

Yes, it will definitely disappear at some point.
Most likely when you change into either 4th, or 6th
