Working on my old 1985 flht , I sold to brother inlaw. Anyway the alluminum tranny sproket I put on Is worn out bad, After about 40,000 Mi.
It started wearing out right away. My question is what kind of sproket should we buy, Be specific, brand, steel, aluminum,ect.
Also anybody know how long the drive belts last, I have an original HD belt, don't know how many miles it has on it,but it looks like it's in good shape.

 

I would just buy another stock trans sprocket. Belts can last up to 100k miles but should be changed at around 65k unless it shows signs of wear before that.

 

Harley Dealer wants over $200 for a sproket, after market's range from $50 to $180.

 

A stock steel pulley and belt will last 100,000 miles. I wouldn`t change one earlier unless I saw a problem.

 

The alluminum sproket I put on is worn bad. Just wondering whitch sproket to buy. I don't want to pay Harley the price there asking when I can get one lot cheaper if I know witch one's are good.
