6 Speed Trans

RE: 6 Speed Trans
I assume you're talking about a 6 speed OD for your bagger? Yes, and no. You won't get any better performance by adding the 6 speed. You'll drop a few hundred rpm's at cruise, and that's about it. Since it's an OD gear, it won't accelerate worth a darn in 6th. But you won't run the engine as hard, and you'll get better mileage.
But, like he said, if you also change final drive ratio, you can gain a lot of performance. Lower gears (higher numbers) apply more torque to the pavement. Add the 6th OD gear, lower the FDR, and it will be kinda like gaining an extra low 1st. Kinda.

RE: 6 Speed Trans
The Harley 6 speed is geared identical to the 5 speed it replaces in 1-5 and 6th is the OD. Mine accelerates great in 6th, but I have over 100/100 tq and hp. Also, I changed my primary gearing to the 1999-2001 Touring EFI setup. Now my 6th is basically equivalent to a 2002/3/4/5/6 Touring bike in 5th. The advantage is awesome acceleraion on the 1-5 gears and a decent highway gear in 6th.
