Hi All.....I'm gonna to Install a new chrome inner primary this weekend....What I need to know, is do I need that special tool Harley sells to bind up the primary chain against the sprocket OR can I use a piece of wood..What I don't wanna do is screw up the chain and/or sprocket.....I actually tried to buy this tool when I bought the inner primary last weekend.. but they told me tools are special order... Oh and any special advise on this R & R will be appreciated....The manual makes it look pretty simple...Thanks in Advance....Mr Breeze

 

I made mine. A very fast and easy way would be to take a old car tire and cut a strip off the tread about 1" wide and three inch's long and use that as a blocker between the sprockets and the chain.

Don't use wood. It'll work. I did it. Then I was cleaning out tiny wood chips for hours. I stole my wife's (hard plastic) cutting board and made a tool out of that.
