i have a 1982 FXRS with a 5 Speed . i was riding along then all of a sudden nothing you can Rev the motor up pull in the clutch hear it click and let out the clutch and nothing you can get the Nuetral light to come on so you know or thing your in Nuetral any idea's why it quit or where i should check first befor i pull this Tranny apart i was gonna pull the primary cover off and see if the Chain is still there or in a ball on the bottom of the Case thanks for any input

If the primary chain was gone you wouldn`t be able to start the engine in the first place...

I doubt it is a transmission problem.

More likely the clutch or maybe the key on the mainshaft/clutch hub is sheared.

Is the bike chain drive or belt?

 

Thanks Dan i pulled the primary Cover off and pulled the Clutch pack out, if you ingage the tranny you cant spin the Drum i don't know how much force it would take to make the Keyway Skip on the main Shaft
