Have an '08 Street Glide. When I shift into 5th I notice a high pitch "whine". Is this normal or should this get checked out? Thnx

 

Normal. Fifth gear is a spur gear as well as first. The rest are helical cut and run quieter. Spur is stronger and run with a whining sound as the teeth mesh.

Put some thick trans oil like Redline Shockproof Heavy 75w250 in there and it will quiet it a bit.

I use BelRay in the tranny... never had a problem
