Default primary case oil

what kind and what weight oil can you use in the primary on a 1986 softail?????

You can use whatever you like. Regualr Dyno oil is fine as all the primary oil does is bathe the primary chain and oil the clutch. Somepople have reported slippage of the clutch if using synthetic, but I never have. I use whatever I ahve on hand leftover from changing the engine oil. Usually 20w-50.

Try a good synthetic ATF. Dexron type for a smooth shift,ford type for a grabbier,quiker hookup.Change yearly.
