Default Tranny drain plug washer

I have a 2002 883 sportster with 4800 miles and going to do my 5000 maintenance. My manual says to replace the tranny drain plug washer when I change fluid. Is this necessary? Or can I use the one on their now a couple of times? Thanks.

Default tranny drain plug washer

I have an 05 Ultra and every 5k when I change my fluids, I change the o-ring washers on the tranny plug, crankcase plug and the tranny dipstick. I bought one of each at the dealer then went to Home Depot in the plumbing isle and found the same size o-ring. As an example, the tranny and crank o-ring are a #41. I got a box of 10 for $1.97. Way cheaper and far more convenient than running to a dealer every time. Also, for me personally, it is a 2 second change and worth it to keep fresh o-rings on each time. Not like it is a lot of money and my bike was too expensive to do things half way.

Default thanks

I was thinking along the same line, just didn't want to put on the old one and leak.
