Knocking noise on idle
First of all great sight lots of good information here. Thank you.
 \\;
My 04 softail classic 64,000 miles, has a lower knocking front of motor low around filter area, almost sounds like a rod but goes away after initial acceleration, not rhythmic by any means while idling, \\;if I crack throttle it is very loud \\;but again goes away (or at least I can't hear it due to pipes) was in primary this week putting in auto adjuster for chain, noise was there prior now is just louder, also just had cams,rockers and all the good stuff off and repaired and adjusted as needed. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

RE: Knocking noise on idle
Comp may be loose and rotor is banging on the splines. That's what makes the knocking sound, more so than the comp itself. The comp puts pressure against the rotor to keep it from moving back and forth on the \\;splines \\;during engine pulses and it don't take much lack of pressure before you hear it.
