O.K. Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. I think I will get the service manual too and soon.
Hey AcidRayn, I have too often done what you suggest (tighten until it spins freely) lol.

Hey AcidRayn, I have too often done what you suggest (tighten until it spins freely) lol.
we been riding together over 20 yrs, dirt, street, snow, ice, whatever
he had this bultaco dirt bike, and i had a penton at the time,
im into tools, and the right tools.
he sits down to work on his bikes, first tool out is a hammer!
he would be working on his bultaco, and id say "hey, want the torque wrench"
he's like "nah, i just make um "very" tight"
then bam, strips the case or something. this happened very often
so, i started sayin, "hey bill, you know the torque on that 8 mm bolt is not "tighten till spins freely"
what a tool he is. lol

RE: Installing Primary Cover
primary cover is 84-108 in.-lbs., same as clutch inspection cover. The tightening sequence is on page 6-26 of the 05 touring service manual. probably the same for your bike but you need to pop the $50 and get a manual for your Dyna to be sure. there are 10 allen head socket screws holding on the primary cover, 5 long, 5 short.
don't forget a new primary chaincase gasket.
