Default Help Throttle caable

Yesterday I put on a new ISO grip on my riight side. I loosen the both throttle cables by the nut arrangements directly below the brake handle to be able to reset the cables on the new grip. I then messed with my throttle cables thinking I got them back to their orginal locations. I having a problem with the grip not re-setting back to location as I ride the back (like it is stuck) and I have to manually pull it back.

Any advise for a new guy on this procedure..

Did you turn the star wheel below your throttle? Loosen it up and try it. I wouldn't ride it until you have this corrected, could cause an accident.

Had the same problem when I replaced the housings. Lube the crap out of the cables. I use a syringe and needle with 3 in 1 oil but a cable luber and silicone lube would be better.

I lubed the cable and the throttle idle **** is not too tight. I think it may be the way I adjusted the throttle cable. Any advice on how to re-set. It worked fine before I did this..

thanks

Sure it's the cables and not the plastic nub part that holds the throttle grip in the switch housing? I've seen these get hung up before upon reassembly.

You may have pushed too far up and the back part of the grip is rubbing the end of the handlebar. Shoot for 1/32-1/16" free play in that area.

I know the throttle cables were installed correctly and I have checked them again for any hang-up. I think the video is pretty good. I was also advised the fix my hog video has a clutch adjustment section.

I did get it to a point where it rolls back on all three positions(handlebars right middle and left per the video). I cannot hear a snap when it goes back and cannot remember if it did before. Is it suppose to snap back with a sound?

yes the fix my hog video does have good info. but I really think http://www.expertvillage.com/video/1...clutch-two.htmis just as good and free. he has one on how to change Fluids and adjust clutch.
your throttle should snap back, well at least it does on my 06 FLSTFI. did you lube the hell out of the cables?

Try loosening the return cable a little. I found that if I adjust it as per service manual with the my throttle hangs up. I need to have slight play (not touching the return spring on the carb) on the close cable.
