Default Primary fluid... full quart in but still can't see it.

Helped a friend change his fluids today on his '06 Night Train. Have only done my tranny and engine once so far, so this was my first primary. We followed the manual exactly. Measured out the amount specified into a measuring cup and poured it in. The manual has a diagram that shows the fluid visible, level with the bottom of the housing opening with the bike upright and level. We poured the measured amount in and when we were done, couldn't see it at all. My buddy was worried about it not being full enough based on the diagram so he continued to add until the whole quart was poured in. Even then, you could only see the fluid when you leaned the bike over toward its stand about half way. My question is...have we put in too much? Can a quart cause damage?
BTW, we used HD Formula+.

Thx,

Vinny

If you used the amount the manual says your ok.
On my bike I think the sevice manual says to use 1 qt.,but in the owners manual it shows the level to be at the bottom of the clutch spring which means I have to add about another 6 ozs. There is no wayto check the level if I only use 1 qt.
Recheck the owners and service manual again to see if there are 2 methods.

If you have too much in, it will be hard to find neutral when the engine is running.

My 06 TC88A takes 1 quart and you can just see it at the bottom of the chain.

The 08 Touring service manual

38oz wet
45oz dry

1 Engine warm
2 stand motocycle upright
3 remove clutch inspection cover
4 if fluid level can be seen its adequate

Thanks for the replies guys...
I guess if I am sure that I put in the recommended amount, it doesn't matter if I can see it or not.
Does it hurt anything if there is a little too much?
