Default Clutch Plate Replacements?

I do some slow manuvers and have recently upgraded from 88" to SE 203's and 95" kit. Since then I have getting a little slipping in 4th and 5th gears.

Thought I might need to replace the clutch plates?
If they are needed, it will be the third set of plates in 45,000 miles.
Thinking of changing from the HD stock plates to Barnett or some other mfg.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I have used Energy One Clutch pack with good results and at a good price.

You might want to bolt on a VPC. Not expensive and easy to install. Will help your clutch handle the extra power.

Three sets of plated in 45k miles? Too many, IMO.

I do lots of slow maneuvers thanks to police training via HD and also have a modded engine. I have 69k miles on my stock plates and have only had to adjust the clutch one time. That was after a day of doing slow races and beating everybody that cared to try.....Well, except the kid on the bicycle that finally whipped me.

Just as a FYI

I just replaced the clutch plates with Barnett steels and Carbon Fiber frictions.

No more slip (for now).

I'll keep 'ya posted...

BTW - The existing plates I removedwere black toast.

What are you running for primary lube?? I personally stay away from synthetics - toooo slippery. Good old fashon dino oil for me. ( The BMW factory says not to use synthetics in the motor due to clutch slip problems )

In my opinion, the stock clutch should last 70,000 miles. Keep the primary with correct fluid and changed at decent intervals. Also, keep the clutch adjusted properly. Lastly, don't abuse it.
