Default Oil Leak

I have a 98 FXSTC and have had an oil leak for some time. Its coming from where the Trany shift comes into the the inner primary. I have replaced the seal and bearing but it still leaks. It leaks the worst when setting at a stop with the clutch in. Im thinking that it maybe that the trany is not lined up just right with the primary.
Altho its not a bad leak it get my rear 80 spoke wheel a mess. Any help or ideas would be great

Friend of mine has a similarproblem. Found out the shaft got scored when the bearing was either removed or installed and the seal wouldn'tseal correctly. Had to replace the shaft$40..

Is is leaking trans fluid and not primary fluid? Did you replace the main shaft seal and the quad seal that is behind the pullet spacer?

When things go for a chit like that, you have to start looking real close for solutions. Check shaft for scoring, bearing play that will allow gap in the seal contact when shaft isforced in a given direction. Did you put the seal in the correct way, in regards to lip direction? One of these will be your cause. Another seal design may work better. Don't get fooled into thinking HD makes their own seals and they are better. Most times they aren't. The open part or the lip of seals need to go in to the area of oil, or pressure to work. Put sealant around the outer part of the seal as well. Always tape any splines the seal has to go over and put oil on the shaft or you will gouge and burn the new seal on the install. Instant leaker. If you find grooves where the oringal seal lip was before, it's a new shaft or if possible in your case move the seal out 1/32-1/16 with a spacer to provide a new sealing suface. If you do this, make sure the seal cavity is cleaned with lacqure thinner as well as the seal od. 515 loctite will seal and bond it in place.
