Chuck, I answered your e-mail on this subject but in the e-Mail you did not include these questions.
1, what is unique about the 2000 RK transmission….
A) Same as the black one pictured which is a 2001. 200 & 2001 have 5/8" Pivot shafts, 2002 to present is 3/4" Pivot shafts. That is why you can not directley put a >02 swingarm on a <01. Shafts are different and so is the axle.
2, What modifications do I have to do to get a 98-down or 2001-up gear set to fit into my 2000 housing?
A) Just get a Softail non tapered shaft without keyway into a 2000 and be done with it. You put your 5 speed gears into the Softail case and sell the thing.
FastHarley... would a 2001 transmission case help with the rear fork (swingarm) improvement you show on your site?
A) Kit is made for a 5/8” pivot shaft. Your 2000 is the same, next case. If you want to know what you are getting into, go to the bottom of the page and read how toR&R… used my FXR for the photos but the principle is the same. Tightened that bitch right up!

ORIGINAL: WEINERDOGBONE

The independant shop I use told me that the Rev Tech install requires quite a bit of case modification. They say that the Baker is the best but the Ultima is a good unit too for alot less money.
The case and gear set is what they are talking about. I do not want your money and the information you received (if infact, we are talking about the same thing) is incorrect.

Screamin' Eagle 6-Speed Transmission - Gearset
The 6-Speed Gearset Kits replace the stock gearset in the vehicle without removing the entire transmission. Gearset Kits include all necessary hardware, and require slight modification (template included) to the Original Equipment transmission case.

Fits '00-later Softail and '01-later Touring models. (Will not fit models equipped with hydraulic clutch)

This is what concerns me... why not the 2000 touring?

FastHarley, Howard.. you really got my mind working now. Your suspension and handling improvments have me thinking I don't have to settle for my Roadking Ooooozzing around corners anymore. If I can get thing to handle maybe I won't need the Buell anymore?

The last thing I ever knew the 2000 & 2001 trans housings are the same. I will take the 6 speed softail trans out of the 2001 housing between X-Mas and New Years and post on my web site how to do it & how to rebuild your trans with full detailed photos. I was not expecting to do this because I have 2 sets of 6 gear. 1) Is 0.86 2) is 0.89 final. I will include this also. That should be the end of this problem for you. At that time we will put this puppy to bed. You may call or write for an update.

Just a quick note,to those of you wanting six speeds,be aware that the trap door is thicker so the end cover will protrude 1/2 in. or more from it`s stock location. Some exhaust systems may have issues with this.Just a reminder!Toby
