94 dyna trans problem
#41
While doing the "homework", start putting together some of the parts and tools needed. Most tools can be homemade, some are nice to have but not absolutely necessary. If you have access to a welder then your golden regarding the homemade tools, but the only item that needs welding is the pulley sprocket nut socket. Gave you a link on an inexpensive one.
Post a pic of the damage to the inner primary.

It's a gamble. The 1994 and earlier inner primary was kind of weak from the factory. The later models, 95 and up, used a stronger reinforced (more cast in webbing to improve the strength) inner primary. They also made a stronger outer primary for the later models, again with more webbing to increase the strength.
The inner primary is part of the "connector" binding the the trans to the engine. Dyna's have the rear swing arm mounted to the trans, and the trans is bolted to the engine by means of the two main bolts right behind the rear cylinder, and the inner/outer primary. So some flexing is involved. Again its a gamble and only you can decide if your willing to go back in to replace it at another time when and if it fails.
