Is syn3 a bad choice for the primary? I read about clutch slippage,if so what would be agood lube for it? They put it in at the dealer @1000 maintanence.

No, it won't hurt a thing. However, I don't think it's the BEST choice.

SYN3 is not a bad choice in the primary. You don't have to have the most expensive stuff in the primary either. The least expensive stuff is just as good as the most expensive stuff when it comes to what is used in the primary. As long as you pretty much go with any 10w30 or higher and the bottle does not say, "Energy Conserving," you'll be alright. Some say ATF is the way to go......I still cannot convince myself to go that route. BTW: I use ANY diesel 15w40 in the primary and it works just fine.

We have a sponsor right on this site. No, it's not me. Also, many independently owned motorcycle shops carry it.

I normally skip comments on oil threads as it seams to be something along the lines of " I like Amber Bock better than Bud Light. It taste better" Amber Bock does tast better than Bud Light as does pretty much any dark beer made but I will drink Bud Light if someone else is buying. Ok what this has to do with SE in the primary is this. I ran SE Syn3 in all 3 holes for 35,000 miles. When I built my engine this past winter there was no appreciable wear on any of the internal parts. Just pulled the cover off my primary for a hand tight componsator nut and checked everything out while in there. Again no appreciable wear on primary train with 50200 miles. I have not been into my transmission but 50200 on it also and no problems. The bike makes 96/92 and I do not mind using it. I do not beat it every time I pull off, just every other time!lol When I did the motor I did change it to Moble V because with the bigger motor I wanted a full syn. that could take the heat. There probably better choices and surley cheaper ones out there then Syn3. The fact that HD came out with this Formula + says something. However with this many miles on it and still in this kind of shape I'll keep the Syn3 in 2 holes. Besides I prefer the taste of Syn3 over the other brands. Chose a reputable brand you like and use it, change it regulary and you will be fine.

Hey evorider, have you ever used any automatic transmission fluid in your transmission? Would this work ok or should a guy stick with HD or Revtech?
