Hint on that one. Slide the puller horseshoe behind the race, push the inner race in only far enough that you can remove the horseshoe..

Use a little Loctite 680; a retaining compound for "slip fitted" parts. Should keep the OEM race from walking in to the MDG; worked for me.

I should have stopped; was close enough. Holding my breath for the wrench to click and the race split; the "pop" startled me.

Hell, yeah, it did the same thing to me. I was sitting there and then all of a sudden pop jumped out of my skin. Thought I broke something on the bike.
