Default What to count?

Hi,
Have a 2014 SGS that I bought used in 2020. Been chasing no 6th gear indicator and no cruis control only in 6th. All the smart folks on this site, and fuel moto, say the gearing is not stock. I contacted the seller who did replace the tranny but said they did it with a OEM harley 6 speed. I put on a man-o-war 34 tooth sprocket so I know that is stock. Front and rear wheels and tire are correct sizes. Only codes I get are an open ground on the stereo.

**** I have eliminated as the cause by testing or replacing: Guages, VSS, both ABS sensors, battery, clutch interlock switch, PV tuner, and N switch.

My questions are:
-Since this is most likly a drivetrain ratio issue, what should I be counting? Teeth on clutch basket (I assume they are pretty standard), drive pully, wheel pully, other? What am I missing?
-Do the pullys have the # of teeth stamped on the somewhere?
-I am running a PV tuner, can I force a ratio change to save having to crack the primary to go counting teeth?

How does your speedometer compare to GPS speed?

I know you can force a speedometer correction with a lot of tuners, but that may only make matters worse. The gear indicator would still be out. OTOH, it is conceivable to me (although I have NO knowledge of tuners), that you can find a ratio that makes the gear indicator work and possibly brings cruise back, but your speedo would be off.

Is your speedometer correct now?

Since you have a 14, is it possible that when the tranny was replaced, they used an early one with straight cut 5th gear? If so programming of the ECU will be different.

Changing the gear ratio on final drive pulleys can and has caused your problem. I put a 30 tooth up front and a 68 on the rear on my 08 cvo road king. Before I corrected the speedo error it would sometimes not read 6th gear. It would engage cruise in 6th but it wouldn't read the need to accelerate for a hill. After I corrected the speedo all has been well. The rear pulley will be easy to count...the front...not so much.

Waiting on new primary gasket before I tear in and start counting teeth. What is generally changed more often: the # of teeth on the cutch basket (comp/sprocket is at 34 teeth curently), front pully, or rear pully when someone gets the need to change the legs on a bike?

All fixed. I subracted 5% for the 6th gear ratio in the PV tuner gear table and all is well. I can now drink with both hands in 6th gear on cruise!
