Sealed IPB install?

Sealed IPB install?
Ok, I have a stupid question: Installing a sealed IPB on my 1985 FXWG and I'm a little confused. So I have to first press the bearing into the inner primary cover, then press that onto the mainshaft? If I wanted to remove for future service, how do I remove the bearing/inner cover after installed?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I put in a baker, which is sealed and has inner race as part of bearing. Unlike stock that has race pressed on shaft. Primary and new bearing just slide on to shaft.
One thing I didn't realize, is the oil seal is different size. I bought a replacement from baker when I took it off. Probably find it somewhere else too.

Bearing is pressed into the inner primary. A bearing race is pressed onto the mainshaft.
You can make your own tools to press the bearing into the inner primary (threaded rod, nut, washers) or get a specialty tool like this one.
You will also need a tool to remove and install the bearing race.

You bought the wrong bearing. The bearing should slip onto the mainshaft. If the primary is wet remove the seals.. The bearing is typically a 6205 standard bearing with a 0.001" honed out of the center to allow for a slip fit. IIRC Baker uses a shielded bearing.

The main reason I know this is that I did the very same thing.. Did on a EVO with a dry primary. Got the inner primary on with a inner bearing sleeve installer for the HD roller bearing. Drilled and tapped the inner case and used a puller to get it off.

I just ordered the baker sealed with seal, $80. Should be here in a few days
Thanks again

Why do you prefer a sealed ball bearing for this application?
A roller bearing is better choice for a radial load. Without a bearing race for the IPB to ride on, if (when) the sealed ball bearing fails you are going to have a much larger problem.
