Ended up having to pull the gear set. Was not going to budge by hand and didn't want to torque on that 5th gear bearing. Just set up my 5th gear installer and sucked it back in as well as setting new 5th gear/main shaft seal. Worse thing is making 3 hour round trip for gaskets. Dealer said they are about done with bikes my age. They haven't fooled with a 5 speed in a long time and didn't have half the parts needed. Fortunately found an indy who is working on the older iron and had what I needed. Know where I'll call first next time.
Before and after.

Next time, save yourself the trip, Dennis Kirk has all the seals, gaskets, and a large selection of parts. 3 days to my front door tops...
