Ive very new bike owner its a 2000 fxds convertible im shorter rider and decided to switch to mid controls my question is based on the photo will i need to take off primary cover to install mid controls it seem like i don't but again im very new at this stuff and dont wont to mess up

 

It looks like the shift arm is still installed. All you should need for this side is a shorter shift rod to pick up the arm and foot peg bracket.
