Good evening everyone, just got my 1st bike, 2013 fltrx and I’m at a loss on finding the issue. I rode around for ~90 minutes today, mix of residential and highway speeds. On the approach to my neighborhood as I downshifted from 2nd to 1st the bike lost all power transfer to the rear wheel. I parked the bike on the side of road and visually inspected shifter ***** and linkage. All parts are tight on linkage, the shifter will not return to a level setting, it just kind of hangs right above the footboard. I was unable to use shifter to get bike back into neutral, but I got it by reaching down and pulling the linkage back until I got the half click of getting into neutral. I pushed the bike the 1/4 mile home and parked it. A hour later I tried again to get the bike to roll in 1st gear, nada, I can put the bike in 1st and 2nd and still roll it backwards and forwards with no gear engagement even with the clutch fully released and getting the bike up to around 3500 rpm. Any ideas? I’m taking bike back to dealer on Tuesday when they open but any advice or possible troubleshooting will help.

 

Dealer is your best bet. My guess would be stripped splines on the clutch or possibly on the shift arm but your symptoms are sketchy.
