Default Hard Hit on First Gear after Changing New Clutch Cable

I have a 2012 Harley Ultra Classic. My clutch cable broke on me yesterday. I replaced with new cable. I was very cautious to make sure cable was pushed all the way down when I put cover back over transmission. Now when I start bike up in neutral, pull in clutch and shift into 1st it hits really hard. Shifting into the rest of the gears is normal. But if I start bike in 1st gear, and the go into neutral and hold clutch in and shift back into 1st it is smooth as butter. Can anyone help?

New cable, it's gonna stretch a bit so you'll be adjusting a couple times till it settles out. Blip the throttle a bit when you pull it in before hitting first.
