HD-34902-C - best tool?? (2008 and up touring) - primary bearing race removal/install
2008 and up touring bikes (want to use on my 2012 currently)
Looking at purchasing this tool to remove/install the primary race.
(I do not want to use a Dremel to cut it off if at all possible, so no need to suggest. Thanks)
Issue is, items I see on the market are for HD-34902 and not "HD-34902-C" (in manual)
Will Georges tool work on 2008 and up touring bikes?
What about the MBS tool?
Input on either of these welcomed. Or, if theres another that works just as well? I know Jims makes one but its 2x the cost unfortunately. Thanks.

I'm a fan of the tools from Georges Garage and have a number of his tools including the one you are interested in (Mainshaft Bearing Race Tool, 620060).
I've used this tool on both my 1993 FLSTF and 2011 FLHTCUI.
There are differences between the different tools offered from the different vendors.
1. Steel used. Is it heat treated?
2. Lip thickness of the horseshoe
3. Tool Warranty
4. Tool Support
I'd bet the steel used on the tool from Georges Garage is better and the lip thickness of the horseshoe is thinner. A thinner horseshoe is important if you are trying to remove a race that has walked. Just wanted to provide you another data point from a happy customer.
FYI: The lip thickness of the horseshoe of Jim's tool is even thinner than the one from Georges Garage. I've read the lip thickness of the Jims tool is: 0.080" - 0.085"
I measured the lip thickness of the tool from Georges Garage to be: 0.095" - 0.096"

I ordered the tool in post #1 and used it to replace the race on my 2012 Ultra, it went well. Was going to post a summary w/ photos when I had a moment. Price for Georges was pretty high...I get its a good tool but, just sayin. Thanks again.

Purchased the MBS tool....put on the new race week or two back. 2012 Ultra Classic, ~45k miles.
Had a shop press the new bearing into the inner primary cover.
Wasn't having issues w/ mine but had the entire primary off so....was just being proactive.
It is helpful to use a big crescent to keep it from rotating when removing.

I have to agree, a large crescent wrench is very helpful....for both the removal and install.
