Question One Piece Inner Primary Bearing, or S&S race?

going into the primary again for an oil leak, first time was inner primary leak from cracked race loose and moving on main shaft. replaced bearing, seal, and race with OEM parts and now the race has walked into the main shaft seal and leaking from trans. trying to decide which fix is the best, only concern is one piece bearing inner race seizing to the main shaft making it impossible to remove inner primary case if a guy has good luck and nothing leaks for the next 5 years. any advice or experience with the one piece or the S&S setup is greatly appreciated.

bike is an '02 Ultra, 95" kit, 90hp/100tq.

Why would you want to shim a shaft to make a bearing work?

Go with the stock outer bearing and SnS race. The 6205 bearing can get a little notchy when pressed into the later cases. IME the press fit is too tight. Also when notchy, the inner race tends to slip on the shaft and can wear the mainshaft. Make sure that you use the latest ipb mainshaft seal from HD or the one that comes in the drag specialties kit. You'll find the these seal have a slight offset towards the bearing to ensure that they seal well on the SnS race.

as far as I can tell, there's no shims involved in going with the one piece bearing. Please enlighten me.

if you're going with the OEM set up there's a race that you slide onto the transmission shaft for your bearing that's what I mean by a shim. You're literally shimming the input shaft to the bearing with a race

Default Issues with installing and removing the one piece inner primary bearing

I was wondering how after the race-less bearing is installed in the inner primary, does the inner primary go back on with the race installer tool? Also when the inner primary has to come back off in the future will I need a different specialty tool? Thanks.

It is not race-less, and it is not one piece.

The all ***** and baker bearings are simply ball bearing assemblies, (inner race, outer race and *****).

Press fit in the inner primary cover, and a slip fit over the mainshaft.

Thanks for responding. When it goes on the main shaft will I need the installer? Will I need a special tool to remove the inner primary cover in the future?

It will slide over the mainshaft without using a pusher, if it is a tight fit, don`t push it on .
