hey all, new here...I have questions about my 81 FLT I just got concerning vibration,noise and the front motor mount(WAY different feel than my pan)....I never rode a rubber mount (ENG)H.D. before...it is making a god awfull lot of noise when I am decelerating,growing louder as the rpm's get lower...any rubber mounted 80" owners out there??? I allready got a new front motor mount and will install it soon to see if that helps but I fear its more than that...no noise while accelerating,,,just when I am bringing her down...WORRIED SICK ABOUT MY BOTTOM END...thanks in advance...................... thumper

 

What kind of noise is it? The Shovel is well built and is solid....I doubt the engine is giving you fits. Noise problems can be a PITA....everything makes a noise on a Harley.

There is a new revision of the front motor mount from Harley. The new one is made in China and tends to make more vibration than the one it preceeded. I think the new revision came out in 2005, so the old ones should all be gone now.

 

man I think I got it... the motor mount IS bad AND the stabilizer rod ends are worn and have lots o play in um(when jiggled they make a very familliar noise) thanks for the intrest......thumper
