Default clutch hub

does anyone know if I can retro a 85 to 89 clutch or 80 to early 84 clutch hub in my late 84 flt my starter ring gear on the hub turns on the hub or maybe someone knows how to fix this problem

well if the ring gear is not damaged, you have the option of tack welding it. maybe, if the hub is not damaged, you can replace the gear. going by older stuff, freeze the hub and bake ring gear in oven to 400*f and that will ease installation. if it is loose then tack weld it, you do not need a whole bunch of welds. the ring gear goes on one way as there is a bevel on the id and usually the teeth has a back cut to ease pinon engagement.
when i added electric foot to my 74ch, exactly the process.
