Default 2009 FLHX Downshift Problem

My 2009 Street Glide has a problem downshifting when hot. Depress shifter and transmission doesn't clunk down into lower gears. After repeated attempts transmission will eventually downshift. Creating a dangerous road condition.
Best regards,
Len

Adjust the clutch properly and make sure primary tension is correct. After that perhap verify shift pawl adjustment. Usually the first 2 correct it.

As stated, adjust clutch.. Make sure that the linkage is not binding or hitting anything to limit it's travel.. Make sure that the shift arms are tight on the shafts. Very common for the one on the tranny to come loose and strip do to improper maintenance. HD removed the shift pawl adjustment circa 2000-2001.

Well that tell you where I'm from. Had to shake my head for a while when someone asked about changing Clutch fluid too.

But agreed - Clutch adjustment is the first and major culprit.

Team, thanks for the input. Changed all oils today (engine, primary, trans) will adjust the clutch this week; after biketoberfest in Daytona.

Best regards,
Len

You changed the primary oil and didn't adjust the clutch?

Yea, this will be the first time I will attempt a clutch adjustment. Didn't want to cause any problems several days before my ride to Daytona.

Thanks again,
Len

Clutch adjustment takes about 15 - 20 minutes if you know what you're doing and no more than 45 minutes first time. Follow the FSM - not a big deal. Also on a jack to level, you shouldn't waste any fluid.
