Default trouble finding neutral and bike lurching after clutch work

Meant to say belt replacement, not clutch work in the title.
on my 2006 Softail Deluxe, I'm having trouble finding neutral, and bike is lurching at a steady throttle, most noticeable on the freeway. The belt was replaced and I was informed that they had trouble getting the clutch back in.
is the lurching clutch related?
please advise,
Thanks!

It's most likely they strewed up something if the clutch doesn't work after belt replacement but did before.. Clutch adjustment is the first thing to check.. Primary level also. The lurching at steady throttle could be something else.. Belt alignment? Still it could be the clutch.. They usually screw up/slip under power if adjusted wrong. Did the say what the problems was with getting the clutch back in?

they had trouble getting the clutch back in as a result of the spring washer being installed incorrectly, causing the clutch to travel on the main shaft, damaging the clutch hub and throw out bearing. It is at the dealer being fixed, but I am curious if the lurching would have been related to the improper alignment.

BLUF...yes, it's related and sounds like dealer's got you covered. No need to worry, unless it's still acting up after their second fix attempt.

I would agree also.. They really don't need to pull the diaphragm spring so it wasn't installed correctly before for some reason?

It was the result of a botched belt job. '06-'07 Softail Deluxes have a spring washer that is critical to be in the right place. The shop that screwed it up has covered the damages to the motorcycle as a result of improper reinstallation. Its currently being fixed at the dealership.
