Default RTV Silicone as a gasket or with the gasket?

I did some searches and didn't see much.

Specifically, I'm tired of my 6-spped transmission cover leaking at the exhaust bracket.
I could try one more time to put on a new HD gasket and make sure everything in tight. Now to the tighter spec in the bulletin. But I'd really rather say screw it and use RTV.
Yes, I know Harley says not to.
Surprised I don't see a lot of guys in here saying to do it anyway.
Why not use it as long as you are careful that extra won't squeeze into the transmission and screw **** up?

If you used it, would it be by itself?
If with a gasket on which side of gasket?

Which would you use?

Black is maximum oil resistance but doesn't mention heat. (Harley's do get hot.)
Gold is for heat and does also seem prescribed for things that touch fluids.
Ultra Synthetic seems to be for synthetic fluids specifically, which I do run. (Redline)
So wasn't sure and thought I'd see what others thought.

So opinions???

If you need sealant on a late Harley then you most likely have a gasket surface issue or problem part, the foam over metal gaskets DONT leak when installed properly on good parts! That being said, if your going to use it both ultra copper and ultra black are excellent sealants...very thin coat on both sides of a gasket!

Hylomar on both sides of a gasket works great, the stuff remains pliable forever, so when you disassemble it the gaskets will come off easily.

But I agree with hog-doc, if you have a leak there, you have a hardware problem.

Maybe the sealing surface is warped.
