Default front and rear sprocket change help

Im rebuilding my entire 117. Added delkron rocker supports, S&S forged rocker arms, S&S oil pump, S&S cam plate, added timken bearing this time, replaced S&S 5 piece crank because it busted to a 3 piece, Evolution industries diamond clutch basket and replaced my stock 34 tooth front sprocket with a Evolution industries 30 tooth front sprocket.

Now here is my question. I did some research and since I went down to a 30 tooth front sprocket Im hearing that my rear sprocket should be changed also because of the power going from front to rear which may cause damage to my clutch and stock rear sprocket.

What size rear sprocket would anyone recommend and what size rear pulley would anyone recommend. The primary is still open. I have the front sprocket on along with clutch basket , chain and tensioner on it but dont want to close her up until I get a correct rear sprocket and pulley if I need to change them since the front sprocket gearing is now changed. Any help would be great. Id like to finalize everything and get my stuff in so i can ride this sat and head out to a certain MC party.

You are not going to damage anything by running a 30 tooth motor sprocket. Your speedometer will be off now though. You have now upped the torque by about 14% so your rpms will be raised by that same amount so take that into account.

I'm running a 30T and haven't changed the rear. No need to - you have been told wrong IMHO!

Might have a problem with drive belt adjustment. I've been reading 2 teeth is the max difference for adjustment with original belt. I went from 32 to 30 on the front and 66 to 70 on the wheel for a +2 change, but that's on a dyna.

Good point, I forgot that. I had to use a shorter belt, couldn't make the stock one work on my Glide.

If he's only doing the motor sprocket, I would suspect that the 6 gear indicator might quit working correctly but the speedo would still be OK. The sensor for speed is in the tranny and nothing from the tranny to the rear wheel has changed.

It throws the overall ratio off, which with the throttle by wire bikes the ratios are programmed in to the computer. The computer will no longer recognize the ratios, so the cruise will no longer work either.

That I can believe but does a 2010 street glide have the gear ratios programmed in? I thought it was the 2014 up stuff that recognized gear ratios.. I do seem to remember about the cruise having issues tho..

It's been throttle by wire since 2009 I do believe.
