Default The bastardized 84 clutch question

I have an 84 FXR. It is an Evo with 5 spd. However, the primary components appear to be all shovel parts. I am wanting to replace to clutch and I know that Bennett has the Scorpion and Rivera has the Pro clutch. I am also looking at the BDL Competition clutch. If I go with the BDL I am considering going with the whole internal belt drive. Here is the issue. I have the tapered transmission shaft and the clutch basket appears to be a shovel clutch basket. BDL is telling me that they don't have a kit for the 84 but when I called their tech guy he said that if my clutch basket is the same as a 4 spd then their belt drive should work. Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't see why a tapered shaft would be any different just because it is on a 5 spd instead of a 4 spd when the clutch basket looks the same.

Electric start 5 speed mainshaft is shorter than 4 speed shaft.
