Default Heel shifter issue

I'm new to forward controls. I like them but I seem to end up in 2nd gear sometimes on take off. I guess my heel is hitting the shifter when I put my foot on the floorboard. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm thinking about taking the heel shifter off.

Yep, I took mine off 6 years ago right after I bought my bike. It's in my parts box for a spare.

Some people love 'em... but I could never get used to a heel shifter. Took it off after giving it a fair trial. I used a little chromed spacer made by Kuryakyn to fill the gap where the rear heel shift lever came off. Couldn't be happier now!

Took it off the `89 Softail 27 years ago...
Took it off the `16 Road King right after I got it home.

Took it off my 01 Heritage and took it off of my '16 Heritage when I brought it home.. My issue is that I would hit it with my heel when pulling out of a stop and putting my foot on the boards thus upshifting way to early. My dumb fault but it is what it is.. I also installed the spacer.
