Default Tranny plug stripped

Did a tranny fluid change and the plug was only finger tightened. When I attempted to reinstall it wouldn't snug up. Although there wasn't a leak I figured it would only be a matter of time that it might vibrate out. So I did the piggyback and single oversized option. Installed oversized flushed out any tap shavings and snugged up the piggyback plug. My question is "Is it ok that there isn't a magnet on the end of the plug"? The oversized plug option seemed easier than tapping myself so I could put a plug with a magnet. When I thought about it I wasn't sure but installed it anyway. No leak. Do I really need the magnet?

I wouldn't be happy without one. I don't recall any of my bikes over the last 40 or so years that didn't have one. The nature of what goes on inside a tranny is such that it will produce microscopic particles over time. You may be able to remove the magnet from the old plug and install it in the new one? Or simply shop around for a replacement oversize one with a magnet.
