Default Lucas oil???

Hey all, was wondering if i could use Lucas Heavy Duty 85/140 gear oil in my 07 tranny? I've read their site about the product
but wanted to get some input from other people who may have used it before. Have a great day all.

Scott

So far so good in mine.
If NASCAR can run it in 200MPH 800H.P. race cars, a lousy 75H.P. Harley can.

Lucas is my number one choice in oils. I've had the best luck with them.

Russian oil? almost all of our oil is imported from somewhere else. Check out how Lucas oil came to be, its an interesting story and reinforces their quality commitment.

I've tried it and it did help a little but in the cooler weatherI could feel a drag until it warmed up,I don't know if its syn or dino oil with additives,I have the redline 80-250 in now which works nice but therattlein 5th & 6thstill there. I also tried amsoil 20-50,75-90 and 80-140 all work about the same. HD needs to address this problem.

I'm running the spectro gear oil right now. Smoothed my tranny a bit. I adjusted the primary chain and clutch and that made it feel even better.

Scott, I have an 07 Dyna that just had the 1000 mile service. I have had the 6th gear chatter vibration since the day I brought the bike home. After reading these threads on using the heavier weight oils in the tranny and in the past using Lucus synthetic oil stabilizer additive in all my wet clutch bikes without any problem, I decided to use the 90-140 heavy duty oil in the tranny. I could tell an immediate difference in the the amount of 6th gear chatter vibration felt from 5th to 6th gear and after 500 miles 95% of it is totally gone. I believe if Harley Davidson owned an oil company they wouldn't allow you to put anyone elses gasoline in their bikes without voiding warranty. Don't be afraid to use a product you believe in and have used in the past because of marketing propaganda Harley is just trying to extort all of your money out of your wallet. I love my first Harley and I am going to take care of it using products that I know work.

I just put some Lucas 85W-140 in my gear box this past Sunday and it made a difference! Plus it's only about $6 a quart. I'll change it every 3000 miles for that much.
