Default Ultima 6-speed

Hi, I've read lots of comments on the RevTech-transmissions, but does anyone have any experience with the Ultima 6-speeds? I know a few builders use them with the Ultima-engines.
I know Baker is king, but here in Norway with installation the cost will be approx. $5500 at the stealer, but from another shop I can get an Ultima installed for $2500 or a RevTech for $3200...
Thanks!

try taking your question to the specific fourm for YOUR style of bike, ie... shovelhead, evo, knucklehead, etc...those fourms are much more active... good luck...j

Ultima engines have a good reputation. I've always heard they vibrate much less than S&S engines. I imagine their trannies are good too, and they're American made. I'd sure buy Ultima products before Korean RevTech.

I am running the rev tech gear set in the stock case. This was a matter of pref.do to the fact it didnt increase the width of the tranny ( check exhaust clearance). The ultima is somewhere around an inch wider than stock and up till a few monthes ago were pushing seals out on the drive side. Ultima did starting adding a new bushing and clip to prevent this from happening and so far it seams to work great. M2cents

I have one on a 91 Springer with a 100" RevTec motor. Love it. Short shift throws, I don't miss shifts with it. No problems so far.

I am a baker dealer. Are you buying the DD6 gear set or case too?

Ihad an Ultima 6 speed builders kit in my 99 FXDL. It worked good but had a bearing failure in only 4000 miles. The small bearing inside the main drive gear went and took out the seal with it. Getting them to warranty it has been a real f*****g hassle. It was apart waiting for a replacement for three weeks when I was informed that the kits were on back order and I'll probably have one in several more weeks. HA! screw that! in the mean timeI bought and installed a Baker DD6 trans it seems to be better but has had a few issues I am still trying to resolve with the 2-1 downshift. I will say the Ultima was easier to install.
