Default Pinion Gear weak link

Well I was starting the bike at work, trying to rush out to beat the rain. pushed in the comp. releases and hit the starter button, well my thumb slipped off the starter button for a split-second. and the thing kicked back about the time the starter was re-engaging. BANG !! usually this would take out the starter clutch, but I put in a new all-***** starter clutch the last time

SO

1.4K starter with all-***** starter clutch VS 95in w/ 10.5 comp backing up and the loser is the PINION GEAR

DAMN this thing just EATS parts.
