Default Colorite Paint

I had an extra dash insert laying around and got a can of Brilliant Silver Pearl from Colorite to experiment with.
I shot the piece and let it dry for 4 hours. The color matched- but it looked kinda flat. When I showed it to a friend he told me I needed a "clear" coat to make it "shine"?

The Colorite site listed the color scheme, but did not state I needed either a base or "Clear"

Am I correct in presuming that all paint jobs have this coat of "Clear" to protect the paint and make the paint job "shine"?

Thanks in advance!

nope
they still make non clear coat paint. some call it one step paint.
but stay with the same brand if possible and make sure they are the same formulation.
