Default Question for the paint pro's

I've got the Vivid Black paint. From all the threads I've been reading and there are a plethora, the only diff between denim and Vivid paint is the glossy clear coat. Here's the question; If I were to sand down the glossy clear coat then re-shoot with flat clear coat will I have a denim black paint? Since I dont want to screw with removing any decals how much would I need to take it down to achieve the finish I'm after (a Denim Black paint job)?
Thanks in advance for the input.....Tucci

I cant see you being able to just remove the clear on that paint. Youll wind up taking off paint and then needing a new paint job requiring complete removal of the paint and clear then having it prepped, painted and cleared again....

it really depends on your skill set. you could always practice on an old helmet you have laying around. when i worked at a motorcycle shop (being the shop b*tch of course) i did a lot of the wet sanding to remove the clearcoat so our guy could do airbrush work. afterwards he'd just re-shoot the clear, buff, and all was well. same deal for what you're looking to do.

Sure you can. Just sand it down carefully with 2000 to take off the gloss and reclear with flattening agent in the paint. I have done it many times.
