Matte black paint over vivid black
Hi Painting Experts:
Newbee with a question regarding options in painting matte sections over the factory vivid black gloss. I know that the proper way to do this would probably be to
1. sand the clear and undercoat and paint
2. Apply primer/sealer
3. Apply matte undercoat
4. Mask off sections to keep matte and apply glossy clear over rest.
I am just guessing at this, but this seemed logical to me. My question is if I do not want to sand down the factory paint job, can I apply a matte paint over the vivid black? Would the main problem be adhesion?
Is there another technique like sanding to achieve the matte finish only over certain sections of the factory paint?
My inspiration is a look similar to this without the other colors.
Thanks in advance for your feedback and help!
