Flat and gloss

Its pretty simple to have a flat black and gloss orange two tone, but they need to be separated by a pinstripe or graphic. For example, you spray your orange and clearcoat it. Then wet sand the clear. Then mask off the orange and spray the black and apply a flat clear over that. Let it dry real good, maybe a few days. Then mask that off, going just a little bit over the edge of the flat clear. Then do your pinstripe and do a glossy clearcoat over the orange and the stripe.
There are other way to do it, but this is the way that i would do it.

You should be aware that once you have anything other than a gloss for your clear finish you will not be able to buff and polish it, otherwise it will be polished to a gloss finish. If the gloss and the flat are on the same surface it may be difficult to polish the gloss without also shining the flat part of your design up a bit. Just something to be aware of. .

Flat finishes need special care. They must be cleaned very gently. 2 different finishes that require different cleaning.
