Default Hand laid flames

Guys, in 2006 I had hand painted silver flames put on my ultra with no clear coat applied over them, Daytona, drinking involved, anyway they turned out great. I got back from Daytona this year and while at work one of my guys was cleaning a peice of our rental equipment with a pressure washer and some Mean Green, so in my infinite wisdome i actually sprayed Mean Green on my fairing to clean and when I hit it with the pressure washer i screwed up my flames. My color is Brandywine Sunglow. How can I get the flames off without scrwing up my stock paint job. Moral of the story keep strong degreaser off your hand painted sh**!!!

I would contact one of the stripers/sign painters and ask for their help maybe east woods has some ideas as well .I have used easy off oven cleaner on one shot paints after masking out everything else but it still shows. So about all I can really say is good luck

maybe get them touched up and retain the flames would be as easy

I won't do that--------------due to the extra thickness of the flames and break thru on surrounding paint it will always leave a shadow of the previous design which can be seen from different angles unless you are real careful and block sand the crap out of a catalyzed primer .

After removing with oven cleaner a light blocking with 2000 wetsand will have him looking better than new. It is not something he would probably want to do himself.

my thoughts to ^^^^^ I would find a local striper that is sober or contact one that travels at the bike shows and ask him his opinion about it --------if it isn't one shot paint I would change up my plan so someone needs to positively id the paint

Thanks guys, its brushed on, seems fairly thick. I think removing them is beyond my skill set. I believe I will get a pro to handle this. Thanks for all of your replies.

Probably a good idea...(pro assist). Have them re-apply flames, or remove & then clear-coat over...maybe even go with entirely new scheme...??

how about throwing up a picture of the paint and damage---------it might attract someone from the deep lair of a pin striping toolbox
